The Manhattan Jaspers dropped to 0-2 (0-0 MACC) on the season after being defeated by the Bucknell Bison, 80-67, this past Saturday. Bucknell went on a 10-0 run late in the first half to take a lead they wouldn’t never give back and also made 31 free-throws in the victory. Manhattan struggled from the field shooting just 34.3% from the field and 32.0% (8-25) from beyond the arc. The Jaspers allowed the Bison to shoot 43.1% from the field and was outrebounded by Bucknell by a 48-33 margin. Leading the way for Manhattan was Shane Richards who had 28 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. On the season, the Jaspers have been led by Shane Richards (25.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 2.0 apg, 3.0 spg), Rich Williams (12.5 ppg, 7.0 rpg), and Zane Waterman (10.5 ppg, 4.5 rpg). Offensively, Manhattan is shooting 35.8% from the field over their first two games while averaging 7.5 three-pointers per game. Defensively, the Jaspers are allowing their opponents to shoot 50.5% from the field and have a rebound margin of -16.0.
The Patriots are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games however, just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win. The Jaspers are 7-0 ATS in their last 7 Wednesday games however, just 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. the A-10.
George Mason has had an interesting season already as after dropping their first two games to Colgate and Mercer, the Patriots were able to beat Ole Miss and Oklahoma State before dropping their recent matchup against Virginia. Manhattan has made the NCAA tournament in the last two seasons but lost a lot from last year’s squad and have really struggled this year on the defensive side of the ball. Although it seems that we don’t know which George Mason team will show up in this one, Manhattan looks absolutely lost on the both sides of the ball early in the season and there is no way I’m trusting the Jaspers to win this one. Take George Mason to win.
