The George Washington Colonials put their perfect record on the line against the Tennessee Volunteers.
The George Washington Colonials are supposed to be a team that shouldn’t be ignored and so far they have been a perfect 5-0 although the competition hasn’t been the toughest. The Colonials are coming off of a one sided 94-65 rout of Gardner-Webb with a 29 point lead at the break putting this one in the win column. GW burned the nets at 54% and were 10-21 from distance with 19 more free throws so the boxscore tells the story. Tyler Cavanaugh tossed in 20 points and grabbed seven boards followed closely by Yuta Watanabe with 19 points. Patrico Garino and Kevin Larsen checked in with 16 and 12 points respectively.

The Tennessee Volunteers haven’t played the most difficult schedule in the world but they are 4-1 with a two point loss to Georgia Tech standing between them and perfection. The Vols won their third straight with a lop sided 95-80 victory versus Army. The Black Knights trailed by four at the half but were overwhelmed over the final 20 minutes. The Volunteers limited Army to 40% from the floor while burning the nets at 53% including 10-22 from the perimeter. Armani Moore pumped in 29 points and Kevin Punter tossed in another 26. Robert Hubbs III netted 14 points while Derek Reese added nine points and eleven rebounds.
The under is 21-5 in George Washington’s last 26 non-conference games and is 8-3 in their last 11 Friday games. The over is 7-2 in Tennessee last 9 neutral site games and the under is 9-3 in their last 12 non-conference games while the over is 6-2 in their last 8 vs. Atlantic 10. We can debate which team has played the tougher schedule but I like the Colonials…
