The Georgia State Panthers dropped to 2-1 (0-0 Sun Belt) on the season after being defeated by the Ole Miss Rebels, 68-59, this past Wednesday. Georgia State used a 10-3 turn to make it a 35-32 contest, but was never able to get the lead in the 2nd half in the loss. Georgia State shot 41.2% from the field however, shot just 55.0% from the FT line. The Panthers allowed the Rebels to shot 47.7% from the field and was outrebounded by Ole Miss by a 39-20 margin. Leading the way for Georgia State was Jeremy Hollowell who had 23 points, 2 rebounds, and 4 assists. On the season, Georgia State has been led by Jeremy Hollowell (20.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.3 apg, 3.0 spg), Kevin Ware (12.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 3.0 apg), and Markus Crider (7.3 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.3 apg). The Jaguars are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 road games. The Panthers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing S.U. record and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 home games.
IUPUI is coming off a 10-win season and although they have gotten some great production from transfers Darell Combs and Matt O’Leary, they’ve haven’t gotten the production out of their 2014-15 leading scorer, Marcellus Barksdale, as they probably expected. George State lost their top two scorers in R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow, but have looked decent to start of the season led by Jeremy Hollowell and Kevin Ware. This game has yet to be lined and I imagine Georgia State will be favored by around 5-8 points. At this point, if the line is where I think it will be, I think Georgia State’s defensive will be the difference in this one and they’ll get enough points from Hollowell to cover. Please check back when the line is posted.
