The Northern Illinois Huskies stayed perfect on the season and improved to 7-0 (0-0 MAC) on the season after defeating the Chicago State Cougars, 80-58, this past Wednesday. Northern Illinois used a strong defensive effort in the first half to gain a 39-24 lead at halftime and never allowed Chicago State an opportunity to get back in the game in the 2nd half. The Missouri Tigers snapped their three game losing streak and improved to 3-3 (0-0 SEC) on the season after defeating the Arkansas State Red Wolves, 88-78, this past Tuesday. Missouri stormed out of the gates in this one as they took a 48-29 lead at halftime and was able to hang on for the victory after allowing Arkansas State to get within four points with under five minutes in the game. Missouri shot 47.7% from the field and 43.8% (7-16) from beyond the arc in the victory. The Tigers held the Red Wolves to 38.2% shooting from the field and outrebounded Arkansas State by a 43-39 margin. Leading the way for Missouri was Namon Wright who had 14 points and 6 rebounds. On the season, the Tigers have been led by Kevin Puryear (13.0 ppg, 4.8 rpg), Namon Wright (9.7 ppg, 4.7 rpg), and Terrence Phillips (8.8 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.0 apg). Offensively, Missouri is averaging 69.0 ppg on 43.1% shooting. The Tigers average 5.8 three-pointers per game and average just 11.8 apg. Defensively, Missouri is allowing their opponents to average 69.7 ppg on 40.0% shooting. The Tigers have a rebound margin of -2.5 and a turnover margin of -0.8.

The Huskies are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 non-conference games and 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Tigers are 6-1-1 ATS in their last 8 non-conference games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall.

Northern Illinois has gotten off to a great start to their season however, Missouri will be the first true test for the Huskies. Missouri is currently a young team that really lacks a go-to option on the offensive end as they have just one player who is averaging better than 10.0 ppg. Northern Illinois has been solid on the defensive end this season which should cause Missouri some trouble and as I think they'll get enough offense out of Aaric Armstead and Marlin Maric, I see Northern Illinois at worse keeping this one within the number. Take Northern Illinois and the points.
