The Georgia State Panthers will travel to the Nutter Center to take on the Wright State Raiders this Friday night in College Basketball action.
The Georgia State Panthers dropped to 3-2 (0-0 Sun Belt) on the season after being defeated by the UAB Blazers, 64-57, this past Tuesday. Georgia State was down 34-26 at halftime and although they were down just three points with a minute left to go, UAB was solid at the FT line and was able to hang on for the win. Georgia State shot just 37.3% from the field and 23.1% (3-13) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Panthers held the Blazers to 36.7% shooting from the field but was outrebounded by UAB by a 30-24 margin. Leading the way for Georgia State was Jeremy Hollowell who had 15 points and 7 rebounds. On the season, the Panthers have been led by Jeremy Hollowell (18.6 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2.4 apg, 1.8 spg), Kevin Ware (13.4 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.2 spg), and Markus Crider (8.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg). Offensively, Georgia State is averaging 68.8 ppg on 46.4% shooting. The Panthers average just 4.4 three-pointers per game and an assist/turnover ratio of 1.05. Defensively, Georgia State is holding their opponents to an average of 63.2 ppg on 40.4% shooting. The Panthers have a rebound margin of -4.2 and a turnover margin of 4.2.

The Wright State Raiders improved to 3-4 (0-0 Horizon) on the season after defeating the D-III Albion Britons, 68-50, this past Tuesday. Wright State used a 7-3 run at the end of the first half to take 34-22 lead into the break and never led by less than double-digits in the 2nd half. Wright State shot 51.8% from the field and outrebounded Albion by a 35-28 margin. The Raiders held the Britons to 31.4% shooting from the field and for Albion to commit 15 turnovers. Leading the way for Wright State was Michael Karena who had 17 points and 6 rebounds from off the bench. On the season, the Raiders have been led by Mark Alstork (12.1 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 1.4 apg), Joe Thomasson (11.9 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 4.9 apg), and JT Yoho (10.8 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.3 apg). Offensively, Wright State is averaging 62.7 ppg on 40.9% shooting from the field. The Raiders average 7.3 three-pointers per game on 39.8% three-point shooting. Defensively, Wright State is holding their opponents to an average of 64.6 ppg on 42.2% shooting. The Raiders have a rebound margin of -3.1 and average just 4.1 spg.
The Panthers are 6-15 ATS in their last 21 road games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. Sun Belt opponents however, just 1-8 ATS in their last 9 home games.
Georgia State has been getting some great production from Indiana transfer Jeremy Hollowell, however, as the Panthers no longer have R.J. Hunter or Ryan Harrow, they’ll need many players to step up if they plan on winning the Sun Belt this season. Wright State has to be happy that they are once against healthy after a tough 2014-15 season, however, the Raiders have been a tough team to get a handle on as they gave Kentucky fits in a 78-63 loss, however, also put up just 39 points in a recent loss to George Mason. Wright State will be at home for this one, but as the Georgia State defense is solid, I think the Raiders are going to find points hard to come by in this one. I think Jeremy Hollowell and Kevin Ware have good nights in this one and they lead Georgia State to a nice road win. Take Georgia State.
