The Line: Canisius Golden Griffins -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The Canisius Golden Griffins host the Quinnipiac Bobcats in the conference opener for both squads.
The Qunnipiac Bobcats are supposed to finish in the bottom half of the MAAC but we need to see more then five games from this team. The Bobcats had won back to back contests before falling 58-54 to Albany on Tuesday. Either the defense was great or the shooting was poor with both teams checking in at 33% marksmanship. Strong work on the offensive glass helped the Bobcats to 16 more looks and five more baskets but the Great Danes 19-5 edge at the stripe won it. Daniel Harris paced the offense with a game high 19 points and eight rebounds followed by Gio McLean with 12 points and eight boards. Of the nine players that shot the ball just two connected at 50%.

The Canisius Golden Griffins will be tough to nail down with three of their top players gone from last season so we have to see this team play a bit more although some say this could be a surprise team. The Golden Griffins are coming off of a 98-96, overtime loss at Buffalo were defense was optional. Both teams hit at 48.6% but Canisius was careless with the ball with 19 turnovers that cost them opportunities and perhaps the game. The Golden Griffins received a game high 24 points from Kassius Robertson with the trio of Jermaine Crumpton, Malcolm McMillan and Phil Valenti scoring 16 points apiece with Valenti hauling in ten rebounds. Jamal Reynolds rounded out the top scorers with 13 points and seven pulls.
The over is 13-6 in Quinnipiac’s last 19 road games. The over is 8-3 in Canisius last 11 overall and the Golden Griffins are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 Saturday games while the over is 19-9 in their last 28 home games. I thing the Golden Griffins are the better squad but no line is out yet…
