The Hofstra Pride await a visit from the Appalachian State Mountaineers on Sunday.
The Appalachian State Mountaineers are a bit slow out of the gate because their scoring and defense haven’t been getting on the same page. The trend continued in a 94-84 to Stephen F. Austin that dropped the team to 2-5. ASU fired away at 67% from the floor but the Lumberjacks nailed shots at 62.5% and totaled ten more looks with 25 forced turnovers which added up to four more baskets. Frank Eaves led the offense with 19 points with Chris Burgess and Ronshad Shabazz scoring 18 points apiece. Griffin Kinney added 14 points and grabbed eight rebounds with nobody hitting at less then 50%.

The Hofstra are one of a few teams deemed capable of capturing the Colonial and they have shown that potential at times early on. The Pride snapped a two game skid with an 89-83 victory at St Bonaventure where the Bonnies logged a few more field goals but the winning difference was Hofstra’s nine more makes at the foul line. The Pride received 24pointsand seven boards from Ameen Tanksley with Juan’ya Green right on his heels with 23 points and nine assists. Denton Koon was next in line with 14 points and seven yanks followed by a 12 point, seven rebound effort from Rokas Gustys.
The under is 8-0 in Appalachian State’s last 8 Sunday games and is 20-7 in their last 27 non-conference games while the Mountaineers are 4-9-1 ATS in their last 14 games overall. The over is 6-2 in Hofstra’s last 8 overall and the Pride are 6-15-1 ATS in their last 22 Sunday games. I like the Pride to win comfortably but the spread looks about right to me…
