The Marshall Thundering Herd look for their first win at the James Madison Dukes.
The Marshall Thundering Herd have been struggling to score and defend which is the reason the team is staring at an 0-5 start. Both trends continued in a 75-65 loss to visiting Akron on Friday. The Zips held a slight 41.5%-40% shooting edge which equaled three more baskets which wasn’t much with Akron owning a +15 on the backboards. The Thundering Herd received 18 points each from James Kelly and Stevie Browning and a combined 15 rebounds on 16-33 from the floor while Ryan Taylor scored 17 points and snared seven boards but production was scarce outside of this trio.

The James Madison Dukes have been on a little bit of a roll with four consecutive victories as they try to live up to the billing of being one of the top two squads in the Colonial. The Dukes finished the second half strong in their 63-57 win versus visiting Western Michigan on Thursday. The Broncos were held to 33% while JMU countered with 35.7% accuracy. The difference was the Dukes seven more free throws on 19 WMU fouls. Ron Curry poured in a game high 21 points and grabbed seven boards with Jackson Kent scoring 12 points. Tom Vodanovich tossed in eleven while Shakir Brown and Dimitrije Cabarkapa netted seven points each and snagged 13 rebounds.
Marshall are 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 Sunday games and are 17-35 ATS in their last 52 road games. James Madison are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 vs. Conference USA and are 20-41-1 ATS in their last 62 home games. I’m not comfortable with the chalk but I like the Dukes a lot this season so we shall see…
