The Cincinnati Bearcats visit instate rival the Xavier Musketeers in Saturday action.
In season’s past the Cincinnati Bearcats were known for their airtight defense and controlled attack. The defense is still strong but the offense has been more productive as we saw in an 87-66 victory over Morgan State to raise their record to 8-1. This was never in doubt with Cinci leading by 24 at the half with the Bears held to less then 39% with the Bearcats hitting at 48% with more makes at the line making this an easy win. Shaquille Thomas led six DD scorers with 15 points and nine boards while Octavius Ellis and Gary Clark scoring 13 points each with Clark snagging 14 rebounds and logging five assists. Farad Cobb and Coreontae DeBerry netted eleven points apiece with Kevin Johnson chipping in with ten points.

The Xavier Musketeers have been a force to begin the season with a 9-0 record and are now looking for some national exposure. The Musketeers have been a complete team at both ends at both ends of the floor and proved that once again in a 90-55 rout of visiting Wright State Tuesday as a 23 point favorite. Xavier jumped to a 28 point lead heading to the locker room and kept the pedal down until the final buzzer. The Raiders offense connected at 36.5% while Xavier countered with 40.6% from the floor but hit 10-23 from long range and sank 24 more free throws which was decisive. Trevon Bluiett poured in a game high 22 points and hauled in eleven rebounds with Myles Davis and LP Macura adding 13 and 12 points while Jalen Reynolds scored ten.
Cincinnati are 5-17 ATS in their last 22 vs. Big East and the under is 39-12 in their last 51 non-conference games while going 26-10 in their last 36 road games. The over is 6-2 in Xavier last 8 home games and are 37-18 ATS in their last 55 home games. In my view the trends mean little as these teams have no love for one another…
