The Murray State Racers look to cool off the hot Southern Illinois Salukis on Friday.
The Southern Illinois Salukis have been clicking on all cylinders as they’ve built an impressive 8-1 start to the season. The Salukis have ran off three straight wins after a 95-63 rout of visiting North Texas. SIU jumped to a 17 point lead at the half and kept their foot on the gas until the final buzzer. The Mean Green shot the ball well at 46% but that didn’t compare to Southern Illinois who didn’t miss at 68% and held a 10-2 edge on threes. Anthony Beane Jr. poured in a game high 27 points with Sean O’Brien netting ten points. Tyler Smithpeters added nine points and five yanks while five others scoring between 5-7 points.

The Murray State Racers are one of the favorites in the Ohio Valley but they have been struggling a bit with defeats in three of four following an 85-81, overtime loss to Evansville. Both teams were making their shots with the Purple Aces holding a 56%-51% advantage with Evansville hitting a few more baskets and free throws to negate eight more Racers three pointers. Bryce Jones paced the Murray State attack with 21 points and seven boards with Justin Seymour tossing in 17 points with both combining at 12-21 from the floor. Wayne Langston netted 18 points on 8-10 while Gee McGhee and Jeffery Moss adding 12 and eleven points respectively.
The over is 6-2 in Southern Illinois last 8 road games and the Salukis are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 road games. Murray State hasn’t hit their stride yet and Southern Illinois is playing lights out so I’m tempted by the points in what looks to be a close one…
