The Line: St. John's Red Storm -9 -- Over/Under: See the Latest Odds
The St John’s Red Storm host the Incarnate Word Cardinals in a Friday night tilt.
The Incarnate Word are a mystery team as we know they beat Nebraska on the road last season but their three wins have come against sub division squads. The Cardinals defense has hurt them and killed them in a 99-97 loss to Our Lady of the Lake. The Cardinals won the shooting battle 56%-53% but Our Lady of the Lake managed eleven more looks and connected on 17-27 from long range. Star Kyle Hittle pace IW with 29 points on 10-16 followed by Jontrell Walker with 28 points on 7-15 from the field. Shawn Johnson added 19 points and 13 rebounds but the rest of the team scored just eight points and zero defense was played.

The St John’s Red Storm might be finding their way under Chris Mullen but only time will tell if that is true although three straight wins is only a good thing. The Red Storm are coming off of their best effort in an 84-72 victory versus visiting Syracuse as a ten point underdog. The Orange were held to 36% from the floor and 5-26 from distance while SJU sank half their looks including 12-25 from distance. Federico Mussini led the offense with 17 points and five yanks with Kassoum Yakwe, Durand Johnson and Amar Alibegovic each netting 15 points with the latter two combining for 16 rebounds. Ron Mvouika added ten points and snagged six boards while Yankuba Sima chipping in with nine points and eight pulls.
St John’s are 1-6-1 ATS in their last 8 Friday games and the under is 10-3 in their last 13 Friday games. The Red Storm seem like the obvious choice even though Incarnate has some talent. I’m really not interested in either team as I’ve seen enough from both to say no thanks although St John’s could win by 20…
