The Oklahoma State Cowboys and the Florida Gators look to continue their early season success on Saturday.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys have both scoring ability and stopping ability at the defensive end which has led the way to a 7-3 mark. The Cowboys have won back to back contests following a 73-55 rout of Longwood where both ends of the floor were dominant. OSU jumped to a 12 point lead at the half and never looked back despite both teams sinking shots in the 43% range. The Cowboys sank a few more threes but pull away on the strength of 14 more makes at the stripe. Leyton Hammonds carried Oklahoma State with a game high 22 points and five yanks while Joe Burton scored 13 points. Jeffrey Carroll netted nine points with four players logging five points apiece.

Even though Billy Donovan is gone the objective for the Florida Gators is the same; control the scoreboard. The Gators did just that in a 58-52 loss at Michigan State but they failed to generate enough offense on just 33% shooting including a 4-18 mark on threes. The Spartans hit shots at 36.8% but that was enough to sink a few more baskets which turned out to be decisive. Dorian Finney-Smith and Kasey Hill paced the Gators attack with 13 points and six boards apiece followed by an eleven point effort from Chris Chiozza. Devin Robinson added ten points and nine rebounds and was the only player to approach 50% marksmanship on 5-9 from the field.
This seems to be a lot of points to give to an Oklahoma State club that isn’t terrible. The Gators lost their head coach to the NBA but they have talent and depth and are ferocious on defense. Throw in that Florida is playing at home and I favor them…
