The Charleston Cougars make the long trip south to face the #17 Miami Hurricanes.
The Charleston Cougars haven’t been playing the toughest schedule over the past several weeks but they are doing what needs to be done and that’s winning. The Cougars have ripped off five wins in a row after an 89-52 rout of sub division North Greenville. The Crusaders were limited to 39% from the floor and gave the ball away 19 times which was far to much to overcome versus the 55% shooting Cougars who totaled 12 more field goals. Canyon Barry tossed in a game high 26 points on 7-13 including five bombs with Marquise Pointer tossing in 16 points on 6-7 from the field. Evan Bailey netted 14 points while Jarrell Brantley and Cameron Johnson scored 13 and ten points.

The goal for the #17 Miami Hurricanes is to climb the national rankings and they haven’t been hurting themselves with three consecutive victories after a solid 66-55 win versus visiting Florida as a six point favorite. The Hurricanes took a nine point lead in to the break and held on the rest of the way. Both squads hit at around 39% but the Canes connected for six more bombs and nine more free throws. The Hurricanes received a game high 24 points and five yanks from Sheldon McClellan on 7-12 from the field followed by a 17 point effort from Angel Rodriguez. Tonye Jekiri and Kamari Murphy combined for 17 points and 15 rebounds in a balanced attack.
Charleston is enjoying a good season thus far and the Hurricanes are as well as they try to move up in the national rankings. The problem I see is that Miami will stick in the knife and twist it if they desire and sometimes just go through the ,motions so the question is which team shows up here…
