The Pittsburgh Panthers and the Syracuse Orange face off on Wednesday in ACC college basketball action.
The Pittsburgh Panthers are 10-1 this season and have won six games in a row since losing to Purdue. Pittsburgh is averaging 85.7 points per game ad they are shooting 50.4 percent from the floor while defensively they are allowing 65.3 points and their opponents are shooting 39.2 percent. Michael Young leads Pitt averaging 17.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game. Jamel Artis is averaging 15.5 points, James Robinson is averaging 10.6 points and 5.4 assists, and Chris Jones is averaging 7.5 points. Pittsburgh has played well for the most part but they haven’t been all that active recently.

The Syracuse Orange are 10-3 this season and they have won their last three games. Syracuse is averaging 72.8 points per game and they are shooting 42.7 percent while defensively they are allowing 64.2 points and their opponents are shooting 39.3 percent. Michael Gbinje leads the Orange averaging 18.6 points per game. Trevor Cooney is averaging 13.5 points, Malach Richardson is averaging 12.1 points, and Tyler Lydon is averaging 10.3 points ad 7.2 rebounds. This doesn’t appear to be one of the stronger teams Syracuse has put on the court.
Pittsburgh is 16-35 against the spread in their last 51 home games, 0-5 against the spread against the ACC, and 11-27-1 against the spread in their last 39 games. Syracuse is 5-19-2 against the spread against the ACC, 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games, and 8-22 against the spread following a win. The road team is 3-1-1 against the spread in the last five meetings of these two.
I don’t see this as a strong Syracuse squad but Pitt usually fails when they are tested so I have to take the points with the Orange.
