The Elon Phoenix lost their 2nd straight game and dropped to 9-5 (0-1 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the Northeastern Huskies, 86-79, this past Thursday. Elon played the Huskies close throughout the game but was held without a field goal for over six minutes in the 2nd half in the loss. Elon shot 43.9% from the field and just 28.0% (7-25) from the beyond the arc. The Phoenix allowed the Huskies to shoot 45.6% from the field and was outrebounded by Northeastern by a 40-31 margin. Leading the way for Elon was Luke Eddy who had 27 points, 2 rebounds, 5 assists, and a steal. On the season, the Phoenix have been led by Tanner Samson (15.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.7 apg), Dainan Swoope (11.1 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 2.4 apg), and Luke Eddy (10.9 ppg, 3.4 rpg, 5.5 apg, 1.1 spg). Offensively, Elon is averaging 81.4 ppg on 44.4% shooting from the field and 35.0% shooting from beyond the arc. The Phoenix average 10.5 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.17. Defensively, Elon is allowing their opponents to average 78.6 ppg on 45.2% shooting. The Phoenix have a rebound margin of 0.1 and a turnover margin of -0.9.

The Dragons are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games vs. a team with a winning home record and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 road games. The Phoenix are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 home games and 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

Drexel has struggled this season after losing their star player Damion Lee who transferred to Louisville and have had all sorts of problems on the offensive side of the ball as they rank 321st in scoring offense and 334th in FG %. Elon is currently on a two game losing streak but has a decent start to their season and has been solid on their home court on the year. Elon is a team that likes to shoot the three-pointer and keep the game fast paced and as I just don’t see the Dragons being able to put up points on the board, I’m taking Elon to cover at home in this one. Take Elon to cover.
