The LSU Tigers shoot for the upset of the #11 Kentucky Wildcats on Tuesday night.

The Kentucky Wildcats might be a bit more vulnerable then in previous seasons but at the end of the day they are a threat for the National Championship. The Wildcats have won four of five after an 83-61 thrashing of Mississippi as an 11.5 point favorite on Saturday. UK was never challenged as they took a 24 point lead in to the half before trading baskets the rest of  the way. Ole Miss was held to 40% from the floor while Kentucky sank half their shots an totaled 16 more looks. Tyler Ulis pumped in 20 points and handed out ten assists on 8-13 shooting to lead the Wildcats. Jamal Murray was next in line with 18 points and six pulls followed by a 13 point, eight rebound effort from Alex Poythress.

LSU Tigers vs. Kentucky Wildcats - 1/5/16 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The LSU Tigers have loads of talent although they will need to be at their best to take down the giants in the SEC. The Tigers took down one of those giants in Vanderbilt by a 90-82 count Saturday as a ten point road underdog. The Tigers held a 48%-46% shooting edge but forced 17 turnovers and totaled eight more looks at the basket and five more makes which was the deciding factor. Ben Simmons saved the Tigers with a monster 36 point, 14 rebound performance on 10-15 from the floor while Keith Hornsby netted 23 points on 8-13 shooting. Craig Victor and chipped in with eleven points and six pulls but LSU did not lack for offense.

Kentucky are 8-1-2 ATS in their last 11 vs. Southeastern and are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games overall. LSU are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 vs. the SEC while the road team is 13-6 ATS in the last 19 meetings. If LSU doesn’t have a letdown from beating Vanderbilt I think they make Kentucky work hard but I have this closer to seven FWIW…
