The North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans look to right the ship when the Furman Paladins visit.
The Furman Paladins have shown some positive signs at both ends of the floor although part of it could be their strength of schedule. The Paladins snapped a three game slide with an 85-57 rout of visiting VMI Saturday that was never competitive with the Keydets trailing by 15 heading to the break. The Furman defense was at their best with less then 39% shooting allowed while forcing 19 turnovers while connecting at 48% themselves which was enough to secure the victory. Stephen Croone paced the Paladins with 22 points on 6-11 shooting with Kris Acox adding 15 points and six boards. Daniel Fowler and John Davis II each netted eight points but Furman cleared the bench early and didn’t lack for production.

The North Carolina-Greensboro Spartans were going to have a tough go of competing in conference action and it became even tougher with Tevon Saddler leaving the team. The Spartans have played some decent competition and all that tells me is more scoring and defense are needed. UNCG are in the midst of a five game slide following an 87-76 defeat at Wofford Saturday that was tied at the half. The Spartans held a 52.5%-50% shooting edge but the Terriers sank six more threes and 17 more foul shots. RJ White paced a balanced UNCG attack with 19 points and five yanks on 9-12 shooting while Diante Baldwin added 14 points and six assists. Kayel Locke and Marvin Smith each scored 13 points but the Spartans couldn’t get stops.
Furman are 8-3 ATS in their last 11 games overall and are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 Tuesday games while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 overall. The Spartans are 2-6 ATS in their last 8 games overall. The home team is 9-3 ATS in the last 12 meetings and the favorite is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings. Greensboro has generally done well in this match up but without Sadler I don’t know if I’d bet either team…
