The Ball State Cardinals won their 2nd consecutive game and improved to 9-4 (0-0 MAC West) on the season after defeating the Chicago State Cougars, 73-48, this past Thursday. Ball State used a strong defensive effort in the first half to take a 27-18 halftime lead and used a 20-5 run early in the 2nd half to put this game out of reach. Ball State shot 46.3% from the field and 47.8% (11-23) from beyond the arc in the victory. The Cardinals held the Cougars to 27.7% shooting from the field and 20.7% (6-29) shooting from three-point range. Leading the way for Ball Sate was Franko House who had 12 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and a block from off the bench. On the season, the Cardinals have been led by Franko House (12.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg), Ryan Weber (11.5 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Bo Calhoun (11.2 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 1.2 apg). Offensively, Ball State is averaging 69.5 ppg on 43.0% shooting from the field and 35.4% shooting from beyond the arc. The Cardinals average 7.5 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.10. Defensively, Ball Sate is allowing their opponents to average 62.4 ppg on 39.3% shooting. The Cardinals have a rebound margin of 3.9 and average 4.4 blocks per game.

The Rockets are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 Wednesday games and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games following three or more consecutive home games. The Cardinals are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games however, just 2-7 ATS in their last 9 home games.

Toledo is a young team but has two very solid upperclassmen in Jonathan Williams and Nathan Boothe who both have played very well this season. Ball State has one of the bigger lineups in the MAC this season and has to be thrilled with their early season success that includes an impressive victory over Valparaiso. Toledo has certainly had their offense rolling over their past three games scoring at least 90 points in each of those games, however, I think they’ll have trouble against the Ball State defense on the road and that the Cardinals do enough on the offensive end to cover .
