The Line: Illinois State Redbirds -6 -- Over/Under: 125 See the Latest Odds
The Illinois State Redbirds host the Loyola-Chicago Ramblers in Missouri Valley action.
The Loyola-Chicago Ramblers don’t score a lot of points so when opponents approach 70 points then winning becomes iffy. That has been the case in back to back defeats capped off by a 73-58 loss to Indiana State on Saturday as a five point road underdog. A 47-30 second half run by the Sycamores did the trick with ISU holding a 50%-40% shooting edge and a 22-9 advantage at the line. The Ramblers had a trio of double digit scorers led by a 16 point, five yank effort from Montel James followed by Devon Turk with 13 points. Earl Peterson scored 12 and Jeff White chipped in with eight points but Loyola-Chicago needed more options on offense.

The Illinois State Redbirds began the season slow but seemed to have found their groove with wins in five of six as both ends of the floor appear to have settled in. The Redbirds are coming off of a 67-62 victory at Drake in a pick ‘em Sunday behind a comeback from a ten point first half hole. The Bulldogs shot the ball better at 47%-43%but the Redbirds managed 16 more looks at the basket and totaled five more field goals which was the deciding factor. DeVaughn Akoon-Purcell led Illinois State with a contest high 28 points and nine rebounds on 13-21 from the field. Paris Lee was next in line with 15 points while Deontae Hawkins netted 12 points and posted five pulls.
The over is 7-1 in Illinois State last 8 vs. Missouri Valley and the under is 7-2 in their last 9 overall while going 51-23-1 in their last 75 home games. I think Illinois State is finally finding their groove and this game will tell us if that is the case…
