USA TODAY Sports

The IUPUI Jaguars dropped to 5-12 (1-1 Summit) on the season after being defeated by the Omaha Mavericks, 76-71, this past Sunday. IUPUI shot 44.8% from the field and 90.9% (10-1) from the FT line however, really struggled from beyond the arc hitting just 6.7% (1-15) of their three-pointers. The Jaguars allowed the Mavericks to shoot 47.5% from the field and 21.4% (3-14) from beyond the arc. IUPUI outrebounded Omaha by a 37-32 margin and had 12 steals in the loss. Leading the way for IUPUI was Marcellus Barksdale who had 16 points, 5 rebounds, 2 assists, 3 steals, and a block. On the season, the Jaguars have been led by Darell Combs (15.5 ppg, 2.4 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.1 spg), Matt O’Leary (10.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.1 apg), and Jordan Pickett (9.1 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.8 apg). Offensively, IUPUI is averaging 67.5 ppg on 40.3% shooting from the field and 31.8% shooting from beyond the arc. The Jaguars have a rebound margin of -1.4 and a turnover margin of -1.7.

The Jackrabbits are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games vs. a team with a winning % below .400 however, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Jaguars are 15-37 ATS in their last 52 home games and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.

South Dakota State is the favorite to win the Summit this season and although they struggled offensively against Western Illinois, the Jackrabbits are a solid offensive team led by their outstanding backcourt of Deondre Parks and George Marshall. IUPUI has played a tough out-of-conference schedule that included games against Marquette, Purdue, Butler, Memphis, and Creighton however, will still continue to have trouble picking up wins in conference play unless they improve on the offensive end. IUPUI hasn’t played many games at home this season but did play the Jackrabbits tough last season at home, losing a close 63-56 battle. The line has yet to be posted for this one but if IUPUI gets double-digit points, I'd probably go with IUPUI.
