Villanova was outstanding defensively in the 1st half and was able to pick up the victory after a 2nd half run gave them a 63-49 lead with just over four minutes left to go. Butler vs. Villanova - 1/10/16 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

USA TODAY Sports

The 18th ranked Butler Bulldogs improved to 12-3 (1-2 Big East) on the season after defeating the DePaul Blue Demons, 77-72, this past Tuesday. Butler needed a 12-2 run in the 2nd half to take 62-57 lead and was able to hold on to get their first Big East victory of the season. Butler shot 49.0% shooting from the field and 40.0% (6-15) shooting form three-point range. The Bulldogs allowed the Blue Demons to shoot 48.3% from the field and was outrebounded by DePaul by a 39-25 margin. Leading the way for Butler was Kellen Dunham who had 24 points, 3 rebounds, 2 assists. On the season, the Bulldogs have been led by Kellen Dunham (15.5 ppg, 2.1 rpg, 1.3 apg), Roosevelt Jones (14.3 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 4.9 apg), and Kelan Martin (14.3 ppg, 5.7 rpg). Offensively, Butler is averaging 86.5 ppg on 49.5% shooting from the field and 36.5% shooting from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs average 6.7 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.71. Defensively, Butler is allowing their opponents to average 71.4 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field. The Bulldogs have a rebound margin of 5.3 and a turnover margin of 2.3.

The Wildcats are 22-6 ATS in their last 28 games following a ATS loss and 6-2-1 ATS in their last 9 road games. The Bulldogs are 5-14 ATS in their last 19 Sunday games and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 vs. Big East opponents.

Villanova is once again going to be one of the top teams in the Big East as they are an experienced team that is solid on both sides of the ball. Butler will have the advantage of playing at Hinkle Fieldhouse in this one but the Bulldogs have struggled against some of the better teams in the Big East in Xavier and Providence. Villanova has been getting great production out of Daniel Ochefu as of late and as they were able to defeat Butler last year on the road, I think the Wildcats will win their 6th straight and cover this small road spread. Take Villanova to cover.
