The Detroit Titans won their third straight game and improved to 9-5 (3-0 Horizon) on the season after defeating the UIC Flames, 87-69, this past Friday. Detroit jumped all over UIC in this one and had no problem getting a victory after gaining a 47-27 halftime lead. Detroit shot 45.6% from the field but did struggle from beyond the arc hitting just 22.2% (4-18) from three-point range. The Titans held the flames to just 40.4% shooting from the field and forced UIC to commit 18 turnovers. Leading the way for Detroit was Paris Bass who had 17 points, 4 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 assist, and a steal. On the season, the Titans have been led by Paris Bass (18.0 ppg, 6.1 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.4 spg), Anton Wilson (15.2 ppg, 4.3 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.4 spg), and Chris Jenkins (13.2 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 1.6 apg). Offensively, Detroit is averaging 85.4 ppg on 45.8% shooting from the field and 39.3% shooting from beyond the arc. The Titans average 9.3 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.97. Defensively, Detroit is allowing their opponents to average 82.1 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field. The Titans have a rebound margin of 3.3 and average 7.0 steals per game.

The Crusaders are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 vs. Horizon League and 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a winning home record. The Titans are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 home games vs. a team with a winning road record and 8-1-1 ATS in their last 10 home games.

Valparaiso has one of the best defenses in the country as they rank in the top-10 in both scoring defense (T-4th) and defensive FG % (7th). Detroit has been outstanding on the offensive end and will try to keep the tempo at a faster pace than Valparaiso is comfortable in this one. Both teams have been playing well but as Detroit is very solid on their home court and should be ready to play against the Horizon League favorites, I think this is just too many points to pass up on. I’m taking Detroit and the points in this one.
