The St Joseph’s Hawks welcome a tough Rhode Island Rams squad to town Sunday.
After a two week period of win one, lose one the Rhode Island Rams seem to be back on track with three consecutive victories. The Rams are coming off of a 77-65 win versus visiting Richmond as a five point favorite Tuesday. Both teams shot the ball well with URI holding a slight 51%-49% advantage in that department. The difference in the game was the Rams 12-17 effort from distance with the Spiders going 5-15 on threes. Jarvist Garrett and Jared Terrell gave Rhode Island 18 points apiece followed by a 14 point effort from Four McGlynn. Hassan Martin added ten points and seven rebounds in a balanced Rams attack.

The Saint Joseph’s Hawks have opened a few eyes with a great start that most didn’t expect but the key is keeping up the same pace. The Hawks were riding high with seven consecutive victories before an 85-82 home loss to VCU ended the good times. The Hawks connected at 46% from the floor with the Rams hitting shots at a 44% pace but they also had ten more looks at the basket which is huge in a one possession game. St Joseph’s received 17 points, seven boards and eight helpers from DeAndre Bembry with Isaiah Miles delivering a monster 31 point, nine board effort. James Demery and Shavar Newkirk combined for 20 points but a few too many mistakes was the difference.
Rhode Island are 5-15 ATS in their last 20 Sunday games and the over is 8-3 in their last 11 road games while the over is 7-3 in their last 10 overall.St Joes are 7-1-1 ATS in the last 9 games overall. The Rams are dangerous and can beat any team in the A-10 but I hope not here…
