USA TODAY Sports

The Missouri State Bears won their 2nd straight game and improved to 6-10 (2-2 MVC) on the season after defeating the Loyola (CHI) Ramblers, 56-54, this past Saturday. Missouri State struggled offensively in the 1st half and was down 29-23 at halftime but used a 19-8 run in the 2nd half to take lead and secure the win. Missouri State shot 47.8% from the field and 38.5% (5-13) from beyond the arc in the victory. The Bears allowed the Ramblers to shoot 45.8% from the field and 23.1% (3-13) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for Missouri State was Dequon Miller who had 16 points, 2 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. On the season, the Bears have been led by Camyn Boone (12.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg), Dequon Miller (12.1 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 2.9 apg), and Dorrian Williams (7.4 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 4.4 apg, 1.3 spg). Offensively, Missouri State is averaging 66.3 ppg on 41.8% shooting from the field and 28.7% shooting from beyond the arc. The Bears average 4.8 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.96. Defensively, Missouri State is allowing their opponents to average 71.4 ppg on 44.9% shooting. The Bears have a rebound margin of 1.6 and a turnover margin of -0.7.

The Shockers are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 28-11 ATS in their last 39 road games. The Bears are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 Wednesday games however, just 2-5-1 ATS in their last 8 vs. MVC opponents.

Wichita State is once again the team to beat in the MVC and now that they are fully healthy, look like one of the better teams in the country. Missouri State has picked up big wins against Northern Iowa and Loyola (CHI) over their last two games and was outstanding defensively in both victories. Missouri State has been solid defensively but Wichita State is playing their best basketball of the season as of late and as the Shockers defense should be able to slow down the Bears offensive attack, I think Wichita State covers this large spread on the road.
