The Cal Poly Mustangs have been scoring enough to win but defense hasn’t been a strength with opponents being able to do plenty of damage on the scoreboard. That has been the trend in defeats in five of six capped off by an 86-73 loss at Hawaii as a ten point underdog. CP appeared to be poised for the upset with a tie game at the break but UH outscored the Mustangs 49-36 over the final 20 minutes. The Mustangs 42% from the floor was short of the Warriors 47% but this game was decided at the stripe with Hawaii turning 30 personals into 20 more free throws. Cal Poly received 17 points from Reese Morgan with David Nwaba adding 12 points and eight boards. Taylor Sutlive and Jaylen Shead rounded out the top scores with eleven and eight points.
