The Loyola Marymount Lions are behind the eight ball in the West Coast as they opened conference play with five straight losses before picking up an 87-83 victory at San Francisco on Thursday. The Lions made a five point lead at the half hold up behind 46% shooting and a 12-27 mark from beyond the arc while the Dons hit at 41% and sank eleven bombs in a close boxscore throughout. David Humphries paced LMU with 20 points and five yanks on 6-11 with six bombs while Adom Jacko tossed in 16 points on 7-14. Joshua Spiers and Steven Haney netted eleven and nine points respectively with ten players scoring overall.

The Santa Clara Broncos sit at just 7-12 but have been playing decent basketball. After kicking off the West Coast at 0-3 the Broncos have won three of four after edging Pepperdine 62-60 Thursday as a three point home dog. Defense was the key with Pepperdine held to 40% from the floor and just 6-20 on threes. Santa Clara countered at over 42% with seven more looks at the basket which equaled four more field goals. Nate Kratch gave SCU 15 points and nine rebounds on 7-13 with KJ Feagin scoring 14 points on 6-10 from the floor. Jared Brownridge tossed in 12 and Henrik Jadersten chipped in with ten points as all nine players that saw the floor scored.
