The St. Joseph’s Hawks look to stay hot at the rival Penn Quakers on Wednesday.
I don’t know if the St. Joseph’s Hawks were on the radar of too many people before the season began but at 14-3 this team can’t be ignored now. The Hawks improved to 5-1 in the Atlantic Ten after an 80-55 victory versus Fordham as a ten point favorite. St Joes took a 12 point lead at the half and kept the pressure on throughout. The Rams were held to 41% from the floor including 6-26 on threes while going to the line just five times. The Hawks hit at 48% and sank 12 more free throws behind five DD scorers. DeAndre Bembry led all scorers with 26 points and 12 rebounds with Aaron Brown adding 12 points and six pulls. James Demery dropped eleven while Lamarr Kimble and Isaiah Miles netted ten points apiece.

The Penn Quakers will be looking to make some noise in an Ivy League might be a little more open then in recent years. The Quakers showed they are dangerous in a 73-72, overtime loss to the Princeton Tigers as a seven point home dog Saturday. The Tigers led by seven after 20 minutes before a Penn rally eventually fell short. Princeton was limited to 38% from the field with Penn hitting at 42.6% but this game was decided at the foul line where the Tigers owned a 22-4 advantage. Darien Nelson-Henry paced the Penn offense with 17 points and seven boards followed by a 16 point effort from Jackson Donahue. Jake Sipe added eleven points, seven rebounds and seven assists while Matt Howard and Darnell Foreman chipped in with nine points apiece.
St Joseph’s are 10-1-1 ATS in their last 12 games overall and the over is 14-3 in their last 17 vs. Ivy League while going 6-2 in their last 8 road games. Penn are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Wednesday games and the under is 11-3 in their last 14 home games while going 7-3 in their last 10 non-conference games. The favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last 8 meetings and the road team is 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings. I have this at around ten so I’m not sure about value so this pick is based on potential…
