The Rice Owls go on the road looking to pull the upset of the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders.
The Rice Owls have generally score enough points to win but the defense has been getting hit hard. The Owls have lost seven of ten and fell to 1-5 in the CUSA following an 82-80 defeat at Alabama-Birmingham on Thursday as the team could not come back from a ten point first half hole. Rice never found the shooting touch at 33% with a 6-34 effort on threes costing them any chance. The Blazers sank shots at 47% and left the door open for the Owls with 18 giveaways but Rice shot too many threes. Marcus Evans and Egor Koulechov scored 14 points each with the latter hauling in ten boards. Connor Cashaw tossed in 12 points while Andrew Drone and Marquez Letcher-Ellis netted 12 points each with a combined 15 rebounds.

The Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders are right in the hunt for the CUSA as they have been masters at winning close contests. The Blue Raiders lost the conference opener to Alabama-Birmingham but have since won five in row capped off by and 86-64 rout of visiting North Texas as a 13 point favorite. MTSU was up just two at the break before going off on a 52-32 second half to turn this in to a laugher. The Mean Green hit shots at 43% but MTSU countered at 52% with 18 more attempts. The tandem of Perrin Buford and Reggie Upshaw Jr. tossed in 15 and 16 points with a combined 21 rebounds on 13-19 shooting. Giddy Potts was next in line with 12 points and five yanks while Darnell Harris and Quavius Copeland combined for 21 points.
