The Monmouth Hawks go on the road to face MAAC rival the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
The Monmouth Hawks are a surprise team in the MAAC with their high powered offense generally at the forefront. The Hawks bounced back from a rare defeat to upend Marist 83-72 Sunday with a 12 point first half leading the way. The Red Foxes were held to just 34% from the floor while Monmouth connected at almost 46% for four more field goals. Justin Robinson poured in a game high 28 points on 8-18 from the floor including six bombs with Micah Seaborn tossing in 16 points. Deon Jones added 13 points and seven boards while the offense had plenty of secondary production.
USA TODAY Sports
The Quinnipiac Bobcats have struggled so far and it will take a dramatic turnaround to swing things in their favor. The Bobcats have four in a row and eight of ten after a 75-52 defeat at Rider where the Broncs led by ten at the half and never took their foot off the gas. Rider sank shots at a respectable 45.5% and posted nine more makes at the line to outdistance the Hawks 27.7% marksmanship including 6-29 from beyond the arc. Abdulal Bundu paced the Monmouth offense with 16 points and eight boards on 6-9 shooting with Gio McLean tossing in 14 points. However there wasn’t enough supplementary scoring and the defense couldn’t win on their lonesome.
The over is 9-4 in Quinnipiac last 13 Thursday games. Monmouth won the first match up by 14 so it’s difficult to win by double figures especially on the road so no bet for me because the Bobcats are just not very good...
