The Florida Atlantic Owls welcome the Charlotte 49ers to town for some CUSA action.
The Charlotte 49ers are trying to dig themselves out of an early hole in conference play and have been heading in the right direction. The 49ers evened their CUSA record at 4-4 with three straight wins capped off by a 72-69 win at Florida International on Thursday. Charlotte only hit at 40% but totaled seven more looks with a few more threes and free throws overcoming the Golden Panthers 49% accuracy. The Florida Atlantic Owls know their postseason hopes depend on what they do or don’t do during the conference schedule. So far the Owls are 3-5 in the CUSA following a 78-66 loss to visiting Old Dominion on Thursday. The Owls fell behind by seven at the half and never were able to make a comeback with the Monarchs sinking half their looks. Florida Atlantic connected at 42% with a few more long balls but ODU had seven more free throws to maintain control. Ronald Delph was the Owls offensive star with 16 points and eight rebounds on 7-7 from the floor with Solomon Poole tossing in 14 points on 6-11. Marquan Botley and Jackson Trapp each scored nine points but the offense needed a bit more punch.
Charlotte are 14-3 ATS in their last 17 games overall and the over is 23-9 in their last 32 vs. Conference USA while going 11-5 in their last 16 Saturday games. The over is 7-2 in Florida Atlantic last 9 Saturday games and is 9-4-1 in their last 14 vs. Conference USA while the Owls are 5-11 ATS in their last 16 games overall. I think Charlotte has enough on both ends of the floor to win on the road here…
