USA TODAY Sports

The UNC Wilmington Seahawks won their 6th straight game and improved to 15-5 (7-2 CAA) on the season after an impressive road victory of the James Madison Dukes, 78-73, this past Thursday. UNC Wilmington held a 33-28 margin at halftime and never trailed in the game in the win. UNC Wilmington shot 42.4% from the field and shot 68.6% (24-35) from the FT line. The Seahawks held the Dukes to 36.5% shooting from the field and outrebounded James Madison by a 50-35 margin. Leading the way for UNC Wilmington was Chris Flemmings who had a double-double with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 2 steals, and an assist. On the season, the Seahawks have been led by Chris Flemmings (16.4 ppg, 6.5 rpg, 1.9 apg, 1.5 spg), Denzel Ingram (12.4 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 3.1 apg, 1.5 spg), C.J. Bryce (11.0 ppg, 4.4 rpg). Offensively, UNC Wilmington is averaging 82.8 ppg on 45.7% shooting from the field and 32.8% shooting from beyond the arc. The Seahawks average 7.0 three-pointers and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.25. Defensively, UNC Wilmington is allowing their opponents to average 72.7 ppg on 41.8% shooting. The Seahawks average 8.3 steals per game and have a turnover margin of 4.6.

The Cougars are 19-39 ATS in their last 58 games following a straight up win and 15-37-1 ATS in their last 53 games overall. The Seahawks are 13-6-1 ATS in their last 20 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record however, are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 home games.

Charleston comes into this match up with one of the better defenses in the country as they currently rank 24th in the country in scoring defense. UNC Wilmington has been great on the offensive end this season and has gotten outstanding production by Chris Flemmings. UNC Wilmington picked up an impressive win against a very good James Madison team however, hasn’t been dominant against the weaker CAA teams this season and I think the Charleston defense will be able to keep the game close enough to cover with the points. Take Charleston and the points.
