The Wright State Raiders will travel to Calihan Hall to take on the Detroit Titans this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.
The Wright State Raiders had their six game winning streak snapped and dropped to 13-9 (7-2 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Oakland Golden Grizzlies, 89-63, this past Friday. Wright State had no answer for Oakland’s Kahlil Felder and couldn’t overcome a 41-26 deficit at halftime. Wright State shot 45.8% from the field and 40.9% (9-22) from beyond the arc in the loss. The Raiders allowed the Golden Grizzlies to shoot 54.5% from the field and was outrebounded by Oakland by a 37-21 margin. Leading the way for Wright State was Mark Alstork who had 10 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assists, and a steal. On the season, the Raiders have been led by Mark Alstork (12.6 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 1.2 apg), JT Yoho (12.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.4 apg), and Joe Thomasson (10.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 3.4 apg). Offensively, Wright State is averaging 67.4 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field and 37.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Raiders average 7.6 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.11. Defensively, Wright State is holding their opponents to average 65.0 ppg on 42.0% shooting from the field. The Detroit Titans lost their 6th straight game and dropped to 9-11 (3-6 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Northern Kentucky Norse, 91-83, this past Friday. Detroit struggled a bit offensively in the 2nd half in this one and allowed Northern Kentucky to go on a 15-7 run to end the game in the loss. Detroit shot 44.1% from the field and 26.9% (7-26) form beyond the arc. The Titans allowed the Norse to shoot 47.4% from the field and 42.3% (11-26) from three-point range. Leading the way for the Titans was Jaleel Hogan who had 17 points and 6 rebounds. On the season, the Titans have been led by Paris Bass (18.3 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.8 apg, 1.4 spg, 1.5 bpg), Anton Wilson (15.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Chris Jenkins (13.2 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 1.6 apg). Offensively, Detroit is averaging 84.9 ppg on 46.1% shooting from the field and 38.5% shooting from beyond the arc. The Titans average 8.6 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.93. Defensively, Detroit is allowing their opponents to average 84.7 ppg on 46.2% shooting. The Titans average 4.6 blocks per game and average 6.6 steals per game.
The Raiders are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record however, just 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 road games. The Titans are 3-7-1 ATS in their last 11 games overall and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 home games.
Wright State struggled against Oakland, but either way, the Raiders have been solid in Horizon League play and got a great win against the Valparaiso Crusaders a few weeks ago. Detroit has one of the highest scoring offenses in the country however, have been awful on the defensive end as they’ve allowed their opponents to average 90.6 ppg during their six game losing streak. Detroit was able to hang around with Wright State on the road and as I don’t believe the Raiders offense will be able take that much advantage of the poor Titans defense, I think the Titans snap their losing streak and cover this spread.
