The Connecticut Huskies and the Memphis Tigers lock horns in an AAC tilt on Thursday.
I think the Connecticut Huskies know the AAC title is out of reach so the next best thing is finishing in the top four. The Huskies haven’t been hurting themselves in that quest with wins in four of five after going on the road and throttling an improved Central Florida club 67-41 as a 7.5 point favorite Sunday. This was never competitive with the Knights to less then 24% shooting including 5-20 from distance while UConn connected at around 47% which added up to 14 more field goals. Shonn Miller led a balanced Huskies attack with eleven points and eight rebounds with Jalen Adams adding ten points, five yanks and five assists while Daniel Hamilton, Sterling Gibbs and Rodney Purvis scoring nine points each.

The Memphis Tigers are similar to their counterparts in that winning the conference crown is out of reach but not a top four finish. The Tigers have lost a bit of ground lately with defeats three of four where their defense has struggled. The Tigers come off an 80-68 loss at Southern Methodist as a 10.5 point underdog where a 12 point halftime deficit was too much to overcome. The Mustangs only shot 40% but Memphis countered at under 33% which negated ten more looks at the basket. Shaq Goodwin paced the Memphis attack with 18 points and five yanks with Ricky Tarrant and Avery Woodson netting ten points apiece. Dedric Lawson added seven points and 13 rebounds while Jeremiah Martin and Trahson Burrell combined for 19 points.
The under is 11-5 in Memphis last 16 Thursday games and is 21-10 in their last 31 home games. Even though Memphis has done well in this match up I think the Huskies have the numbers on their side…
