The Samford Bulldogs seemed capable of doing some damage in the SoCon after a decent non conference record but that hasn’t been the case with the Bulldogs dropping eight of nine. Most of their issues have been on the defensive end of the floor and that trend continued in an 85-70 loss to visiting Mercer on Monday. The Bulldogs fell behind early and couldn’t keep up the Bears scorching 58% marksmanship which added up to five more buckets versus the 49% accuracy of Samford. Darius Jones-Gibson led the offense with 17 points and seven helpers with Jamal Shabazz adding 15 points and eight rebounds. Marcus Johnson scored eleven while Wyatt Walker and Christen Cunningham netted nine points apiece.
Furman are 12-4 ATS in their last 16 vs. Southern. The over is 7-1 in Samford last 8 Thursday games and the Bulldogs are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 Thursday games. Furman are 11-4 ATS in the last 15 meetings. The numbers say Furman but the So Con can be a bit all over the map…
