The Rider Broncs pay a visit to the Niagara Purple Eagles for the first meeting this season.
The Rider Broncs have been all over the map in MAAC play so far and just need consistency going forward. The Broncs appeared to be heading in the right direction with three consecutive wins before dropping a 65-57 decision at Manhattan Tuesday as a 1.5 point road dog. The Jaspers rode a late surge behind 52% shooting to down the 42% shooting Broncs who cost themselves a possible win with a 3-14 effort on threes. Teddy Okereafor was Rider’s best offensive option with 19 points with Khalil Thomas adding 12 points and eight rebounds. Jimmie Taylor and Xavier Lundy scored eight points apiece but more scoring punch was needed.

The Niagara Purple Eagles have been more competitive then in recent years but have been mired in a slump where they have lost five of six. The Purple Eagles are coming off of an 82-68 defeat at Quinnipiac where the Bobcats took an eight point edge at the break and never let up. Quinnipiac connected at 45% and hit 12-17 from distance while Niagara’s 40% shooting and 4-13 from distance came up short. Matt Scott led all scorers with 22 points with Marvin Prochet adding 13 points and seven boards. Emile Blackman tossed in eleven points and Cameron Fowler scored eight with ten players scoring overall.
The under is 8-2 in Rider last 10 Friday games and is 6-2 in Niagara last 8 Friday games. The underdog is 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings and Rider are 10-4 ATS in the last 14 meetings. Neither team seems to be contenders in the MAAC but perhaps Rider is getting it going…
