USA TODAY Sports

The Cleveland State Vikings lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 7-17 (2-9 Horizon) on the season after being defeated by the Detroit Titans, 71-63, this past Thursday. Cleveland State was down 33-31 at halftime and couldn’t fight back after falling behind 56-44 with just over 8 minutes remaining in the game. Cleveland State shot 42.4% shooting from the field and just 15.0% (3-20) from beyond the arc. The Vikings allowed the Titans to shoot 49.0% from the field and was outrebounded by Detroit by a 39-27 margin. Leading the way for Cleveland State was Demonte Flannigan who had a double-double with 25 points, 10 rebounds, 3 blocks, 1 assist, and a steal. On the season, the Vikings have been led by Rob Edwards (12.2 ppg, 3.7 rpg, 1.6 apg), Demonte Flannigan (10.7 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.0 bpg), and Andre Yates (10.2 ppg, 2.5 rpg, 2.2 apg). Offensively, Cleveland State is averaging 62.5 ppg on 41.3% shooting from the field and 31.5% shooting from beyond the arc. The Vikings average 5.4 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.79. Defensively, Cleveland State is holding their opponents to an average of 68.0 ppg on 45.4% shooting. The Vikings have a rebound margin of -1.4 an average 6.7 steals per game.

The Golden Grizzlies are 7-0-1 ATS in their last 8 road games vs. a team with a losing home record and 22-8-1 ATS in their last 31 road games. The Vikings are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall.

Oakland suffered some surprising conference losses against Youngstown State and Northern Kentucky earlier in the season but has looked outstanding as of late and is led by one of the best guards in the country in Kahlil Felder. Cleveland State has struggled offensively throughout the season as they rank 335th in scoring offense and have had to rely on their defense for them to stay competitive in games. Cleveland State will have trouble slowing down the Oakland offense in this one and as I just don’t trust their offense, I think the Golden Grizzlies will be able to cover this spread on the road. Take Oakland to cover.
