The Golden Eagles had won three in a row before the good times ended in a 79-62 loss at Seton Hall as a seven point underdog on Wednesday night. A 45-31 second half run broke open a tight contest but the Pirates 50% marksmanship and six more free throws outdistancing the 40.7% shooting Golden Eagles. Luke Fischer paced Marquette with 17 points and six pulls on 8-16 with Jajuan Johnson tossing in 15 points. Henry Ellenson added ten points and ten rebounds with Duane Wilson and Traci Carter combining for 15 points.

The #7 Xavier Musketeers always seem to have a team that is National Championship caliber and this season is no different. The Musketeers have won seven of nine after downing a stubborn St. John’s squad 90-83 as a 21.5%point home favorite. Both teams sank shots at around 46% with the Red Storm mustering nine more shots and four more baskets which was easily negated by the Musketeers 27-13 advantage at the stripe. The offense featured five double digit scorers with Myles Davis leading the way with 16 points and five assists with Trevon Bluiett adding 15 points and 13 rebounds. JP Macura followed with12 points and seven boards while Edmond Sumner and James Farr combined for 21 points.
