The Hofstra Pride will travel to the JMU Convocation Center to take on the James Madison Dukes this Sunday afternoon in College Basketball action.

The Hofstra Pride had their four game winning streak snapped and dropped to 16-7 (8-3 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the UNC Wilmington Seahawks, 70-67, this past Thursday. Hofstra held a 38-26 lead at halftime but struggled offensively in the 2nd half and allowed UNC Wilmington to take the lead on a Denzel Ingram three-pointer and couldn’t get their last second attempt to fall to force OT. Hofstra shot just 35.2% from the field and 22.7% (5-22) from beyond the arc. The Pride allowed the Seahawks to shoot 40.3% from the field and loss the turnover battle by a 14-8 margin. Leading the way for Hofstra was Juan’ya Green who had a double-double with 21 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 blocks, and 2 steals. On the season, the Pride have been led by Juan’ya Green (17.8 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 6.7 apg, 1.8 spg), Ameen Tanksley (15.4 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.4 apg), and Rokas Gustys (12.8 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 1.2 bpg). Offensively, Hofstra is averaging 79.5 ppg on 44.0% shooting from the field and 35.2% shooting form beyond the arc. The Pride average 8.6 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.29. Defensively, Hofstra is allowing their opponents to average 73.7 ppg on 43.2% shooting. The Pride have a rebound margin of 2.6 and average 6.5 steals per game.

James Madison vs. Hofstra - 2/7/16 College Basketball Pick, Odds, and Prediction

The James Madison Duke snapped their two game losing streak and improved to 17-7 (7-4 CAA) on the season after defeating the Drexel Dragons, 78-56, this past Thursday. James Madison used a 15-2 run in the 1st half to help them gain a 36-23 halftime lead and had no trouble putting away the Dragons after getting up by as much as 20 points in the 2nd half. James Madison shot 49.2% from the field and outrebounded Drexel by a 49-35 margin. The Dukes held the Dragons to 28.3% shooting from the field and 28.6% (8-28) from beyond the arc. Leading the way for James Madison was Yohanny Dalembert who had a double-double with 15 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks, and an assist. On the season, the Dukes have been led by Ron Curry (16.2 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 3.6 apg), Shakir Brown (12.3 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.3 apg), and Yohanny Dalembert (8.5 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 1.1 bpg). Offensively, James Madison is averaging 75.5 ppg on 45.3% shooting from the field and 36.4% shooting from beyond the arc. The Dukes average 9.0 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.08. Defensively, James Madison is holding their opponents to an average of 67.3 ppg on 39.4% shooting. The Dukes have a rebound margin of 4.5 and a turnover margin of 1.3.

The Pride are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games following a straight up loss and 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games overall. The Dukes are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS win and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 games overall.

James Madison and Hofstra had one of the more exciting games in the CAA earlier this season when James Madison was able to get an 86-82 OT win at Hofstra and I expect this game to be almost just as exciting. Both Hofstra and James Madison have some of the best players in the conference in Juan’ya Green (Hofstra) and Ron Curry (James Madison), however, I think the Dukes defense will be the difference in this one and as long as they are shooting their average from beyond the arc, James Madison should be able to cover this spread. Take James Madison to cover.
