The Hofstra Pride will travel to Kaplan Arena to take on the William & Mary Tribe this Thursday night in College Basketball action.
The Hofstra Pride lost their 2nd consecutive game and dropped to 16-8 (8-4 CAA) on the season after being defeated by the James Madison Dukes, 98-95 in OT, this past Sunday. Hofstra had trouble containing Ron Curry of the Dukes as Curry hit a late three-pointer to force OT and was solid at the FT late in the overtime period to get the win for James Madison. Hofstra struggled a bit offensively as they shot just 39.5% from the field and 34.2% (13-38) from beyond the arc. The Pride allowed James Madison to shoot 49.3% from the field and 46.7% (14-30) from three-point range. Leading the way for Hofstra was Denton Koon who had a double-double with 19 points, 13 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. On the season, the Pride have been led by Juan’ya Green (17.9 ppg, 4.4 rpg, 6.8 apg, 1.8 spg), Ameen Tanksley (15.6 ppg, 5.5 rpg, 1.4 apg), and Rokas Gustys (12.8 ppg, 11.8 rpg, 1.2 bpg). Offensively, Hofstra is averaging 80.2 ppg on 43.8% shooting from the field and 35.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Pride is averaging 8.8 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.32. Defensively, Hofstra is allowing their opponents to average 74.7 ppg on 43.5% shooting. The Pride have a rebound margin of 2.9 and a turnover margin of 0.6.

The William & Mary Tribe won their 4th straight game and improved to 17-6 (9-3 CAA) on the season after defeating the Delaware Blue Hens, 90-64, this past Saturday. William & Mary had little trouble securing the win against Delaware after the Tribe was able to take a 39-22 halftime lead. William & Mary shot 53.2% from the field and outrebounded Delaware by a 43-28 margin. The Tribe held the Blue Hens to 33.9% shooting from the field and 27.8% (5-18) shooting from beyond the arc. Leading the way for William & Mary was Omar Prewitt who had 21 points, 1 rebound, and a steal. On the season, the Tribe have been led by Omar Prewitt (17.3 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.7 apg), Daniel Dixon (13.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 1.9 apg), and Terry Tarpey (10.7 ppg, 7.9 rpg, 2.5 apg, 2.3 spg, 1.5 bpg). Offensively, William & Mary is averaging 77.4 ppg on 48.9% shooting from the field and 38.1% shooting from beyond the arc. The Tribe average 8.2 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.57. Defensively, William & Mary is allowing their opponents to average 69.9 ppg on 41.0% shooting. The Tribe average 4.8 blocks per game and have a rebound margin of 2.6.
The Pride are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss however, 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games overall. The Tribe are 5-0 ATS in their last 5 home games and 8-1 ATS in their last 9 games following a ATS win.
Hofstra could easily be 11-1 in the CAA after suffering tough losses to James Madison (twice in OT) and UNC Wilmington and should still be considered one of the best teams in the CAA led by Juan’ya Green and Rokas Gustys. William & Mary has been solid as of late and has one of the better offenses in the country as they currently rank 16th in FG %. William & Mary is an impressive 11-1 at home however, the Tribe had no answers in their 91-63 loss to the Pride at Hofstra and although this game should be a close game, I think Juan’ya Green and the Pride will be able to keep this one close enough to at worst cover with the points. Take Hofstra to cover.
