The Monmouth Hawks look to stay hot with a win at the Rider Broncs on Friday.
The Monmouth Hawks are as hot as I have ever seen them at 11-2 in the MAAC while riding a six game winning streak. The Hawks are coming off of an 87-61 victory at Marist where they stormed to a 14 point lead after 20 minutes and never let up as a ten point favorite. Monmouth fired away at nearly 51% with eleven bombs while limiting the Red Foxes to 33% marksmanship for a difference of eleven field goals. Justin Robinson and Micah Seaborn tossed in 16 points apiece followed by a 14 point effort from Je’lon Hornbeak. Chris Brady and Collin Stewart combined for 21 points and 15 rebounds while ten players scored overall.
USA TODAY Sports
At 6-8 in the conference the Rider Broncs are not going to win the MAAC so securing a spot in the top four and gaining momentum for the postseason are top priorities. The Broncs have dropped two of three after a 67-61 defeat at Canisius as a 1.5 point underdog. The Golden Griffins held a43.6%-39% shooting edge which was good enough to total four more baskets and squeeze out the victory. Rider received a game high 19 points and eight boards from Kahill Thomas on 6-8 with Xavier Lundy adding 13 points and six pulls on 6-9 from the floor. Jimmie Taylor was next in line with 12 points and nine rebounds with Zedric Sadler chipping in with eight points.
The under is 5-2-1 in Monmouth last 8 road games. The under is 9-2 in Rider last 11 Friday games and the Broncs are 6-2 ATS in their last 8 Friday games. The Hawks have won nothing yet and can’t take a game off. Besides, I have no success going against them…
