USA TODAY Sports

The Missouri State Bears lost their 2nd consecutive game and dropped to 10-15 (6-7 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Northern Iowa Panthers, 83-69, this past Wednesday. Missouri State was able to cut into Northern Iowa’s 49-38 halftime lead in the 2nd half, but allowed the Panthers to go on a 17-2 run late in the game that sealed the victory for Northern Iowa. Missouri State shot 45.5% from the field and 47.8% (11-23) from beyond the arc. The Bears allowed the Panthers to shoot 47.8% (11-23) from three-point range and loss the turnover battle by a 12-3 margin. Leading the way for Missouri State was Chris Kendrix who had 20 points, 8 rebounds, and 2 blocks. On the season, the Bears have been led by Dequon Miller (12.4 ppg, 2.8 rpg, 2.6 apg), Chris Kendrix (11.8 ppg, 4.7 rpg, 1.0 spg), and Camyn Boone (11.1 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 1.3 apg). Offensively, Missouri State is averaging 67.2 ppg on 41.6% shooting from the field and 31.3% shooting from beyond the arc. The Bears average 5.2 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.94. Defensively, Missouri State is allowing their opponents to average 72.0 ppg on 44.2% shooting. The Bears have a rebound margin of 0.2 and a turnover margin of -0.6.

The Sycamores are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Saturday games however, just 0-4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Bears are 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss and 1-4-1 ATS in their last 6 games overall.

Indiana State has struggled as of late losing three of their last four games and continue to have issues on the offensive end as they rank 308th in FG % and 246th in 3P FG%. Missouri State doesn’t have a great overall record but they have been competitive in MVC play this season which includes a solid home win over Northern Iowa. Indiana State is only 2-8 on the road this season and after seeing the Sycamores suffer a loss at Bradley, I just can’t trust their offense on the road as a favorite. I’m taking Missouri State and the point.
