The New Mexico Lobos square off with the San Jose State Spartans for the second time.
The San Jose State Spartans are not going to be a factor in the Mountain West but I can say they have taken a few steps forward from prior seasons. The Spartans nearly had themselves a three game winning streak but fell just short in a 64-61 loss at UNLV where the Spartans squandered a 13 point halftime lead with the Rebels dominating the final 20 minutes in all areas. The Rebels were held to a season low 29% shooting with six more free throws making the difference versus the 38% shooting Spartans. Brandon Clarke was the Spartans best player with 15 points, 14 rebounds and five helpers. Princeton Owens tossed in 13 while Ryan Welage netted eleven points.

The New Mexico Lobos have the ability to beat any team anywhere in the Mountain West which means the expectations are high. The Lobos either win the conference playoffs or head to a lesser tournament because the regular season title is out of reach. UNM dropped an 80-72 decision at Utah State as they never cut in to an eight point halftime hole. The Aggies won the shooting battle 49%-46% with the Aggies ten more free throws being the deciding factor. Elijah Brown tossed in a game high 22 points and five helpers on 7-16 with Tim Williams adding 21 points and seven boards. Three others scored between 7-8 points in a game the Lobos needed to stay in the MWC race.
San Jose State are 12-3-1 ATS in their last 16 road games. The over is 6-2 in New Mexico last 8 home games and the Lobos are 20-9 ATS in their last 29 Sat. games. Not much goes as planned in the MWC so I’ll take the points because there are a lot of them…
