USA TODAY Sports

The Florida State Seminoles had their four game winning streak snapped and dropped to 16-8 (6-6 ACC) on the season after being defeated by the Syracuse Orange, 85-72, this past Thursday. Florida State was down by a 42-39 margin at halftime and allowed the Orange gain a quick double-digit lead in the 2nd half in which they couldn’t fight back from. Florida State shot 41.3% from the field and just 54.5% (12-22) from beyond the arc. The Seminoles allowed the Orange to shoot 62.0% from the field and was outrebounded by Syracuse by a 35-28 margin. Leading the way for Florida State was Devon Bookert who had 15 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals. On the season, the Seminoles have been led by Malik Beasley (17.2 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 1.4 apg, 1.0 spg), Dwayne Bacon (16.0 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 1.5 apg), and Xavier Rathan-Mayes (11.7 ppg, 3.3 rpg, 4.9 apg). Offensively, Florida State is averaging 78.7 ppg on 46.2% shooting from the field and 33.9% shooting form beyond the arc. The Seminoles average 6.4 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.98. Defensively, Florida State is allowing their opponents to average 73.1 ppg on 43.6% shooting. The Seminoles have a rebound margin of 3.5 and a turnover margin of 0.8.

The Hurricanes are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 Sunday games however, just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Seminoles are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 Sunday games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up loss.

Miami continues to prove to everyone that they are one of the best ACC teams this season and is a well-balanced team that ranks 74th in the country in scoring offense and 49th in scoring defense. Florida State looked a bit flat at Syracuse but has been solid this season led by a strong offense and has a defensive that can create turnovers. Miami is a solid team however, they are just 2-3 on the road in conference play this season and have struggled offensively in conference games averaging just 66.8 ppg and as I think Florida State will bring everything they have to this rivalry game, I’m taking the Seminoles and the points.
