Western Illinois found themselves down by a 36-27 margin at halftime and although they were able to pull within 2-points with just under five minutes to play, couldn’t secure the comeback victory. Western Illinois shot 40.4% from the field and 50.0% (8-16) from beyond the arc. USA TODAY Sports

The North Dakota State Bison lost their 2nd consecutive game and dropped to 16-10 (6-6 Summit) on the season after being defeated by the Omaha Mavericks, 76-69, this past Saturday. North Dakota State allowed Omaha to use a 7-2 run at the end of the 1st half to take a 34-31 halftime lead and although the Bison stayed close with the Mavericks, couldn’t never gain the lead in the 2nd half. North Dakota State shot 52.9% from the field and 41.2% (7-17) from beyond the arc. The Bison allowed the Mavericks to shoot 47.5% shooting from the field and loss the turnover battle by a 17-9 margin. Leading the way for North Dakota State was Khy Kabellis who had 21 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 steals, and a block. On the season, the Bison have been led by Paul Miller (16.5 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 1.8 apg), A.J. Jacobson (12.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.6 apg), and Kory Brown (10.3 ppg, 6.6 rpg, 2.7 apg, 1.4 spg). Offensively, North Dakota State is averaging 70.7 ppg on 45.0% shooting from the field and 35.0% shooting from beyond the arc. The Bison average 7.0 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 1.09. Defensively, North Dakota State is holding their opponents to an average of 65.2 ppg on 42.8% shooting. The Bison have a rebound margin of 2.1 and have a turnover margin of 1.2.

The Leathernecks are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall and 6-2 ATS in their last 8 road games. The Bison are 5-2 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS loss however, just 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games vs. a team with a losing straight up record.

Western Illinois pulled off one of the more shocking upsets of the season after defeating Wisconsin to open up their season however, have really struggled in Summit play as they’ve averaged just 66.5 ppg. North Dakota State has struggled on the road this season but still has been great at home posting a 10-1 record while holding their opponents to just 60.4 ppg. Western Illinois has a great player in Garrett Covington however, North Dakota State has the 37th ranked scoring defense in the country and as they were able to beat the Leathernecks by 13 points on the road, I think the Bison will be able to cover this large spread at home.
