The Chattanooga Mocs hope to avoid the upset bid of the VMI Keydets on Thursday night.
The VMI Keydets were a big time three ball shooting team that could throw 80 points on the scoreboard in their sleep but too much of that talent is gone. Nothing had been going right with defeats in five of six before the Keydets surprised visiting North Carolina-Greensboro 86-72 as a 5.5 point home dog. VMI jumped to a surprising 17 point halftime lead before going in to cruise control the rest of the way. QJ Peterson led five Keydets in double figures with 19 points, nine rebounds and five assists with Tim Marshall scoring 16. Julian Eleby added 13 points and six helpers while Austin Vereen and Phillip Anglade netting 12 points apiece with Anglade snagging five boards.

The Chattanooga Mocs are trying to close in on the SoCon title and control their own destiny. The 23-4 Mocs can both score and defend and each has had a hand in winning nine of ten following a 76-68 win at East Tennessee State as a 3.5 point favorite as they made an eleven point halftime lead hold up. The Buccaneers held a slight 47%-44% shooting edge but the Mocs owned a decisive 13 more free throws. Tre McLean poured in a game high 25 points and grabbed eleven rebounds on 8-13 with Greg Pryor and Dee Oldham netting ten points apiece. Justin Tuoyo tossed in nine points and totaled five yanks while Jonathan Burroughs-Cook and Chuck Ester chipped in with eight points each and nine boards.
VMI are 1-9 ATS in their last 10 road games and are 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games overall while going 3-12 ATS in their last 15 vs. Southern. Chattanooga are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 games overall and are 9-2 ATS in their last 11 vs. Southern while going 11-4 ATS in their last 15 Thursday games. Mocs win by DD and I’m not getting involved because they might not care…
