The Memphis Tigers head to the Sunshine State to battle the South Florida Bulls in early Saturday action.
At this juncture in the season the Memphis Tigers are looking for a strong finish and perhaps move up in the standings. The Tigers prevented a three game skid with a 73-56 victory versus visiting Central Florida on Wednesday night as a 12 point favorite. The Tigers jumped to a 17 point lead after 20 minutes and traded baskets the rest of the way. The Tigers did their damage on 43% shooting for five more baskets against the 31.7% accuracy of the Knights. Dedric Lawson and Trahson Burrell led the attack with 13 points each with eleven and six boards respectively while Shaq Goodwin and Avery Woodson netted 12 points apiece with eleven and six rebounds. Ricky Tarrant chipped in with ten points for an extremely balanced offense.

The South Florida Bulls are simply trying to stay ahead of East Carolina and the conference basement. The Bulls have avoided the cellar when they snapped a four game slide with a 69-52 road win versus the Pirates as a 6.5 point underdog. A 34-22 second half broke open a competitive contest behind a defensive effort that allowed just 34% shooting and forced ECU in to 19 turnovers. The South Florida offense wasn’t bad either with 47% accuracy which added up to nine field goals. Jahmal McMurray gave the Bulls a game high 21 points on 7-14 with Nehemias Morillo tossing in 18 points on 7-12 including four bombs. Jaleel Cousins added ten points and eleven rebounds with five others also scoring.
The over is 9-1 in Memphis last 10 road games and are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 Saturday games. South Florida are 16-34-1 ATS in the last 51 home games. The road team is 9-2 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings. The Tigers can not afford to be unprepared here and that’s what I see being motivation…
