USA TODAY Sports

The Indiana State Sycamores lost their 4th straight game and dropped to 13-14 (7-8 MVC) on the season after being defeated by the Illinois State Sycamores, 78-50, this past Wednesday. Indiana State was blitzed from the opening whistle and couldn’t come back after finding themselves down 21-4 early and 44-23 at the half. Indiana State struggled offensively as they shot just 25.4% from the field and 18.2% (4-22) from beyond the arc. The Sycamores allowed the Redbirds to shoot 50.0% from the field and was outrebounded by a 42-34 margin. Leading the way for Indiana State was Everett Clemons who had 14 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, and a steal. On the season, the Sycamores have been led by Devonte Brown (16.0 ppg, 4.9 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.0 spg), Brenton Scott (15.1 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.1 spg), and Khristian Smith (10.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg, 2.1 apg, 1.2 spg). Offensively, Indiana State is averaging 70.0 ppg on 40.4% shooting from the field and 32.7% shooting from beyond the arc. The Sycamores average 7.0 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.86. Defensively, Indiana State is allowing their opponents to average 70.0 ppg on 42.0% shooting. The Sycamores have a rebound margin of 0.9 and a turnover margin of -0.6.

The Shockers are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 Sunday games and 41-15-2 ATS in their last 58 games following a ATS win. The Sycamores are 7-2-2 ATS in their last 11 home games however, just 0-6-1 ATS in their last 7 games overall.

Wichita State is back on track after suffering a home loss to Northern Iowa as over their last two games the Shockers have won by an average of 30.5 ppg. Indiana State has really struggled as of late as they’ve lost 4 of their last 5 games including a shocking 63-58 loss on the road against the 4-24 Bradley Braves. Indiana State is a tough place to play as the Sycamores currently have a 9-3 record at home however, Indiana State has been allowing teams to average 74.2 ppg over their last 5 games and as I don’t see the Sycamores being able to score against a very strong Wichita State defense, I’m taking Wichita State to cover this road spread.
