The third seed Sacred Heart Pioneers look to avoid the upset bid of the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds in NEC quarterfinal action.
A strong end to the regular season helped the LIU Brooklyn Blackbirds to 6th in the Northeast which they hope gives them a better quarterfinal match up. The Blackbirds won four of five to end their conference schedule at 9-9 and give them a winning record at 15-14 overall. In a way a near .500 record seems about right with the team scoring and allowing around 76 points. LIU Brooklyn have one of the best one, two punches in the conference with Jerome Frink and Martin Hermannsson netting close to 17 points apiece with nine and four rebounds. Aakim Saintil and Joel Hernandez averaged around 13 and 12 points to give the Blackbirds some explosive scoring but the question is what does the team get from their secondary options.

The Sacred Heart Pioneers finished third in the Northeast at 11-7 with a 12-17 record overall. The numbers don’t favor the Pioneers who have been outscored 78-74 but the team has been performing above those numbers the past month with the team winning seven of ten to salvage their season. SCU needs one of the more explosive scorers in the nation in Cane Broom to continue to score at will (23.7 ppg) with Quincy McKnight and Tevin Falzon just as important at eleven points each and a combined 13+ rebounds. Jordan Allen adds ten points and five pulls with four players averaging 5-6.5 points which can not be overlooked.
Long Island are 9-1 ATS in their last 10 vs. Northeast and the over is 7-1 in their last 8 vs. Northeast while going 9-3 in their last 12 road games. Conflicting numbers throughout the schedules of both teams so I’ll take the points…
