The Maine Black Bears will look to advance to the America East semis with a win at the Vermont Catamounts.
The Maine Black Bears do plenty of damage on the scoreboard at almost 76 points so when you see they are 8-21 and 4-12 in the America East you know opponents are scoring even more and they do at over 85 points. The Black Bears ended the regular season with eight straight defeats with at least 75 points allowed so in order to advance in the playoffs the defense has to control the scoreboard a little better. Isaac Van leads the team with nearly 16 points and grabs nearly six boards while guard Kevin Little gives the team around 14 points but is a volume shooter at 37.5%. Aaron Calixte adds 10+ points while Devine Eke averaged almost ten points and led the team with 6.7 rebounds while recording 46 blocks to give Maine some interior defense.

Although Albany and Stony Brook have garnered most of the headlines in the America East the Vermont Catamounts were the face of this conference when it had no identity. The 19-12 Catamounts outscored the opposition 75-70 which helped them to third in the league at 11-5. The Catamounts are riding a five game winning streak in to the postseason behind an offense that shoots 48% with balance to spare. Trae Bell-Haynes, Ernie Duncan, Ethan O’Day and Kurt Steidl each score around eleven points with O’Day and Steidl combining for over eleven rebounds. Four others average between 5-9 points so there are plenty of weapons and opposing defenses had better not try to key on one or two players because others can score.
Maine are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 vs. America East and are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The over is 6-2 in Vermont last 8 Wednesday games. This spread is the exact margin of victory in the two regular season bouts and I suppose Vermont wins by whatever they choose…
