USA TODAY Sports

The Louisiana Lafayette Ragin Cajuns dropped to 15-12 (11-7 Sun Belt) on the season after being defeated by the South Alabama Jaguars, 83-70, this past Saturday. Louisiana Lafayette was able to get out to a 32-26 halftime lead however, struggled defensively in the 2nd half allowing the Jaguars to score 57 2nd half points in the loss. Louisiana Lafayette shot just 37.7% from the field and 13.3% (2-15) from beyond the arc. The Ragin Cajuns allowed the Jaguars to shoot 49.2% from the field and 47.1% (8-17) from three-point range. Leading the way for Louisiana Lafayette was Shawn Long who had 25 points, 13 rebounds, 4 blocks, 1 assist, and a steal. On the season, the Ragin Cajuns have been led by Shawn Long (19.4 ppg, 13.2 rpg, 1.3 apg, 1.9 bpg), Kasey Shepherd (10.4 ppg, 2.0 rpg, 1.5 apg, 1.3 spg), and Johnathan Stove (9.0 ppg, 3.2 rpg, 1.6 apg). Offensively, Louisiana Lafayette is averaging 79.7 ppg on 44.3% shooting from the field and 30.2% shooting from beyond the arc. The Ragin Cajuns average 6.3 three-pointers per game and have an assist/turnover ratio of 0.98. Defensively, Louisiana Lafayette is allowing their opponents to average 73.1 ppg on 42.9% shooting. The Ragin Cajuns have a rebound margin of 7.6 and average 6.6 steals per game.

The Panthers are 7-18-1 ATS in their last 26 games overall and 0-6 ATS in their last 6 road games. The Ragin Cajuns are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games vs. a team with a winning straight up record.

Georgia State has had to rely on their defensive, that ranks 20th in the country in scoring defense, to get wins this season as they offense has struggled  after losing both R.J. Hunter and Ryan Harrow from last year's squad. Louisiana Lafayette has lost 4 of their last 5 games (4 games on the road) and have really struggled to find offense outside of Shawn Long in that span as the Ragin Cajuns are averaging just 69.4 ppg. Georgia State is just 3-9 on the road this season and as I’m not concerned with the Panthers defense on the road, I think Shawn Long and Louisiana Lafayette will get back on track and get a big home win. I’m taking Louisiana Lafayette to cover in this one.
